Here, a = 1, b = 3, c = −4 Substitute into the formula: x = (−3 ± √3² − 4×1×(−4)) / (2×1) x = (−3 ± √9 + 16) / 2 x = (−3 ± √25) / 2 Therefore: x₁ = (−3 + 5) / 2 = 1 x₂ = (−3 − 5) / 2 = −4 The solutions are x = 1 and x = −4.
